Description
The negative-pressure gas-mask bottle is a specialised piece of equipment intended for controlled breath-restriction practices. Generally made of stainless steel or lacquered brass, it is distinguished by its principle: the wearer has to draw air from inside the vessel, which creates immediate mechanical resistance and limits the volume available. This design allows fine modulation of the breathing rate, unlike positive-pressure systems where air is pushed towards the wearer.
The device consists of a sealed body fitted with a mouthpiece, often with one-way valves that permit inhalation while making partial exhalation easier. The polished or brushed finish gives a comfortable grip and good resistance to corrosion.
Role in a session. The resistance changes the nature of breathing: every inhale demands effort, becomes audible, measurable, and takes over attention entirely. It is a very particular state of awareness — all you think about is breathing. Two bottles are prepared, each filled to 50% up to the marker, which fixes the resistance reproducibly from one session to the next rather than leaving it to chance. Combined with electrostimulation, layering a pulse over a resistance phase produces the most intense effect in the protocol.
They are filled very early, at the filling step, and the complete air circuit — controller, injector, valve — is tested before any dressing begins.
Precautions. This is an advanced practice demanding experience, caution and constant supervision. Restriction is admissible, occlusion never: air must always be able to circulate, and the circuit must be physically incapable of closing. A free emergency intake stays available at all times. The mask must be removable within seconds. Continuous monitoring of lip colour, ease of breathing and level of consciousness; immediate stop at the first dizziness, tingling or confusion. Never alone, never while altered.
Care. Rinse the mouthpiece in lukewarm water after each use, check the seals and valves regularly for airtightness, use a soft cloth on the metal and avoid anything abrasive. A tired seal gets replaced: a leak makes the resistance unpredictable.
My take
